As a kid, I remember listening to the radio in my father’s old Dodge Duster, where the voices of the Pointer Sisters and the flavor of Ismael Rivera’s improvisations first opened my ears to harmonies and rhythms that would stay with me for life.
In my teenage years, I experimented with different instruments, but it wasn’t until I started imitating famous singers as a joke that everything changed. One day, at a real band audition, I got called back—and that moment set everything in motion.
That same year, I began singing with Sonia López’s band, a renowned percussionist in Puerto Rico. Less than a year later, I landed a gig with Eddie Santiago’s band. Over the following years, I had the privilege of performing alongside legends like Cheo Feliciano, Jerry Rivera, Tito Nieves, and many others.
I later moved to Miami, where I worked with Rey Ruiz, Mickey Taveras, and Frankie Negrón. In 2003, I relocated to Austin, Texas, collaborating with the talented Rodriguez Brothers and The Brew.
In 2008, I finally took the leap and created Salero! Through all the trials and tribulations, we’ve stayed strong and continue moving forward.
Thank YOU for all the support over the years—and for everything still to come.
El party de Salero ya empezó! 🔥
